Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security

The Cisco CCNA Security IINS qualification is one of Ciscos latest enhancements to the Cisco CCNA and foundation level certifications. Other foundation level exams are the CCNA Wireless and CCNA Voice.

CCNA Security IINS is now a pre-requisite to the Cisco CCSP certification which is Ciscos security specialist qualification.

About the Cisco Security IINS

CCNA Security Certification meets the needs of IT professionals who are responsible for network security. It confirms an individual’s skills for job roles such as Network Security Specialists, Security Administrators, and Network Security Support Engineers. This certification validates skills including installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices and develops competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

During your course you will learn how to:

	Describe the security threats facing modern network infrastructures
	Secure Cisco routers
	Implement AAA on Cisco routers using local router database and external ACS
	Mitigate threats to Cisco routers and networks using ACLs
	Implement secure network management and reporting
	Mitigate common Layer 2 attacks
	Implement the Cisco IOS firewall feature set using SDM
	Implement the Cisco IOS IPS feature set using SDM
	Implement site-to-site VPNs on Cisco Routers using SDM

In order to take the CCNA IINS exam you will need to be a current CCNA. In order to attend the course you do not need to be a CCNA but you should have equivalent experience.

Course Format

Your IINS weekend will be delivered by a mixture of short presentations followed by practical exercises using your own rack of Cisco routers. Each router will feature a security IOS router image and also Security Device Manager (SDM) software.

This is the same method used successfully by over 900 Cisco CCNA students taught using Networks Inc. intensive weekend learning model.

Questions

You do not need to be a current CCNA to attend the course but in order to take the exam you will need to have passed the Cisco CCNA routing (640-801 or 640-802).

The exam number is 640-553 IINS - Implementing Cisco IOS Network Security. The exam can be booked at your local testing centre via www.vue.com

Your hands on practicals will be performed on your own rack of Cisco routers featuring an IOS security image. Some practicals will be IOS based and some will be via the graphical user interface known as the SDM.
